Radiant Barrier

Radiant Barrier Insulation for your Northern Front Range Home

Insulation Pros of Colorado understand the importance of reflective insulation. A radiant barrier installed by us will protect your home from the sun’s scorching heat and keep energy costs low. Heat transfer occurs in various forms, including convection, conduction, and radiation. Radiation energy is the most difficult to protect oneself from, but a radiant barrier is one of the best insulation types to reduce heat buildup due to radiation. Homeowners are familiar with the yearly heating and cooling cycles. In winters, the interior becomes cold, while the summers see intense heat buildup. Lack of any reflective insulation can result in such a scenario where heat is trapped inside the house. Radiant barrier insulation helps you solve this problem by employing the scientific principle of reflective insulation.

How Radiant Barrier Insulation Installation Takes Place

To install a radiant barrier, we need to determine where to employ this barrier for maximum protection against radiation. The walls and windows are usually made of materials that you cannot install with a radiant barrier. However, the attic of your home receives most of the sunshine and is a suitable place to start when thinking of a radiant barrier insulation installation.

The concept is a straightforward one as the attic is prepared before installing this reflective insulation. The radiant barrier is basically a foil-based material with high emissivity or the ability to reflect most of the radiation it receives. This material sends most of the sun’s radiation in the form of heat back to the surroundings it came from.

This reflective insulation is installed under the attic as the energy is released from the exterior’s sides. The newest foils are coated with high emissivity material, are permeable, and do not hinder cellular communications.

Derrick with Insulation Pros of Colorado came out to our home to provide a quote for service. He was very professional and after reviewing our needs, he recommended using a different product. I appreciate the fact that he could have have tried for the hard sell and given us service that didn't suit our needs, but chose not to. I asked him for a few business cards so I could hand them out if anyone asked for a referral.

finish. I was primarily concerned about acoustics and sound mitigation and they provided some great, practical advice about the trade-offs between the different materials and price/performance. They were very responsive to turning quotes and answers around quickly, and online (very modern for a contractor!). They even went the extra mile and installed some insulation around the bottom of the floating walls to provide extra fire blocking. They were super courteous and professional throughout the entire process - including cleaning up completely when the job was done. I'm very happy I went with Insulation Pros instead of having a dry wall contractor doing it. They do one thing, and they do it very well.
